Uh-huh. Did you have an actual rebuttal, or do you plan to just going to drag stuff from other debates in here until everyone forgets what you was being discussed?

Hey Darren - maybe the PUG was just good, heh?
I am taking a strong dislike to you... hope to see you in game.

Err...shouldn't we stay on topic?
This is a pretty interesting matter to discuss, naysayers and negative people will always exist anyway, I don't mind them. They usually tend to be ignored by the majority in the end.
Eager to receive opinions on the matter we're talking about.

SIGH. Do I have to put this into perspective for every single scrub who still doesn't understand the scale by which success in Tombs is measured?
Getting to the Hall means nothing. Winning the Hall means nothing. Holding the Hall is the measure of a worthy team. I was doing my best not to sound pompous, but when you make a claim as outrageous as this thread has, and then use the fact that you clambered into the Hall for a single round before getting kicked in the head as your earth-shattering evidence, I find myself struggling to find ways to say what must be said.
If your point is only "it is possible to win the Hall in a random PUG", well we already knew that. As was stated before, everything leading up to the Hall is random and a team of henchmen with the right amount of luck could get there and maybe even win once. As soon as you become the team holding the hall, the luck factor disappears. It's not a coincidence that your group disappeared along with it.

Showing no respect for other people will only generate no respect for you. Showing arrogance won't contribute to make your position solid.

Well, this is a little funny thing. Did you know that listening to others instead of posting endless pompous statements in every topic could be helpful to you? Reading all the posts one person wrote before spitting out anything against him would help your cause as well. Now you're just showing that you lack in the basics of civil discussion. I posted again saying that I did hold the HoH, for 5 times in a row (with a second party, understood? not the one I was talking about in the first post, did you get it? are you there man?), beating many guilds ranked "1-100" with a PUG which had two premade characters in it. We didn't even know each other.

Basically what you stated with pompous arrogance in the first place is false.
Totally false.

Too bad this time my group didn't disappear at all, it won 5 times in a row. But you're probably going to say that you could have done it with both hands tied, because your Uber guild has no limit and will dominate the universe one day.
Now, back on topic, I don't want this thread to become the playground of a little naysayer.

Congrats on the win, and congrats for doing it again as well as holding it.
I agree about how the people with nothing useful to say get ignored. I don't know what DarrenJasper's problem is. I guess some people are just rude because they can be. Glad you're enjoying the game, and seeing a positive post once in a while makes me smile and remember why I joined the forums in the first place.

Who here is talking to you? I was addressing the clumsy attacks made upon my comments about the original post. No, I didn't read your other posts and no, I don't care what you accomplished after your original claim. You won 5 times? Hats off to you, but that wasn't the subject of my posts.

You seem constantly upset that members here don't have your depth of "knowledge" and appear burdened with having to respond to honest questions.

Players come here to learn and enjoy the benefits that this amazing site has to offer. In a few moments, I will be adding you to my ignore list. Life is too short to constantly make fun of those who aren't superior to you, and you sir, are far from superior..

Quote for Truth, mostly. I'm going to wait for a bit before doing this. Everyone is allowed a bad day sometimes. Don't want to ignore someone who's actually a good community member just having an off-day. Final decision pending.

It felt like playing chess.
I hope this can help well built PUGs not to lose hope.

That's actually quite impressive considering you have no voice chat and no experience playing with one another. Perhaps you should join whoever was in the group and form a guild with them. With a Vent server and an actual strategy you guys could be dangerous. Congrats on your win (although I'd be pretty pissed if I'd lose to a PUG in HoH)
P.S.: don't worry about people's criticism. Lots of people might try and bring you down because their guild cant' take the HoH and are jealous a PUG did it. Yes maybe it was luck but if they fought all the matches before then it's well worth creating a thread about that victory

isn't there a bit of a double standard here? i mean, would it be ok for people in top guilds to post here if they accomplished the same feat without voice comm, without a full team of eight, and held it for 5 matches? would people say, oh well you're from so and so guild so that doesn't count as a pug and if you did any less then you're not living up to expectations?
these aren't rhetorical questions, i'm really curious what ppl think.

Well, you have an interesting point there, but the ratio of my thread was just to show that PvP in GW is really balanced and non-elitist. I wouldn't bother to post if the party were composed by 2 Idiot Savants, 3 Negative Zero and 3 Treacherous Empire. That is still a PUG and not a guild, but actually it's more like a dream team than a party with different people.
Here's what I'm pretty convinced of: if you have a good group of friends who want to play seriously, you can test your party build, improve it match after match, and face some top guilds with a fair chance to win. No one here says that Uber rare items and superior runes are useless, they are of course an advantage, but when you're in the middle of the match your ability as a player AND the skills you chose count as 90% of the whole. Forgetting to body-block someone, rezzing your ally a second later or using a spell at the wrong time (which actually are common mistakes everyone could make) can get your group killed, eventually, and won't be compensated by any Uber equipment whatsoever.
A Guild is a Guild and has an advantage over PUGs from the start, but that doesn't mean you can't compete if you play cleverly, and, sometimes, win.

I'm confused about the double-standard post. I had thought this was a thread about a PUG, not about high-ranked guilds. Was I mistaken/confused? I'm not sure what double standard they're talking about.

I don't even think the thread was about himself. He never said the names of anyone involved in winning HoH. He merely said it was possible to do it. He never claimed he held the Hall for 10 hours. He never said he was a fantastic player that puts all ranked guilds to shame.
Jesus. Lighten up and give the guy a break.
Good for you for winning HoH. Even winning it one time is a lot better than many other players who have never even competed there.
